A Post Death Scene

Here’s A blurb from Mildred’s Story (Linked below)

“I think death is easy,” said Milo wisely  “That is if your the one whose dead.”

Mildred was to tired to think this through, so instead stared at the ground an watched a wasp pick off a spiders legs one by one…

“I suppose we should bury him?” Milo more asked then remarked.

“No,” said Mildred “We should honor his death in his people’s way, we should burn him”

In truth Gawain’s jumping in front of Milo had not been an act of bravery. No, even in death he had remained a coward, the truth of the matter was he should have zigged when he zagged. But this was a secret Mildred would keep to herself.

Milo insisted on doing the more “manly” part  and built a stone pyre, while Mildred collected flowers and tree boughs to lay on top… When it was complete they both worked together to lift Gawain onto his final resting place. It was sunset when they finally lowered the torch. As the flames reached Gawain’s body, the flowers Mildred had so carefully lain out burning came to rest at their feet. Milo tugged Mildred back a few steps, “Should we say something?” he asked

“There’s nothing left to say” said Mildred she turned and headed towards the horses, hiding her tears…

Because It’s About time for A Disney Rant

Just need to get this out there… I’m getting very unhappy that I keep hearing Frozen (a great movie by the way) is the first Disney movie where a princess doesn’t fall in love with someone she just met, because this is NOT true… Has anyone watched Beauty and the Beast? It literally takes a fairly large amount of time for them to fall for each other probably longer than it took Anna and Kristoff. Beauty and The Beast teaches you beauty is only skin deep and, and that sometimes you have to learn to love. It wasn’t like Belle fell in love with the Beast right away she was most definitely scared out of her mind, and if you told her that she was going to fall for a gigantic hairy monster I’m pretty sure she would have laughed. (kinda following?) So that’s it… here’s a song from Beauty and the Beast to hopefully prove my point or just to enjoy, or both…

Also a warm welcome to my newest followers… Thank you guys so much for being interested enough to read more 😀 its really inspiring…

Mainer Chick at http://mainerchick.com/ she is also someone who’ve I’ve been following and I’m so glad she decided to take the time and read through my posts and what I’ve felt I’ve needed to say… Her blog has a great humour about it and an Art journal that has been great to look at…

Thank you, lots, to snapshotofawanderingheart at http://snapshotsofawanderingheart.wordpress.com/ for this nomination It is so amazing of you! I am very sorry to not have posted sooner. 2) You must answer the 10 questions given to you by the nominee before you.

3) Nominate 10 of your favorite blogs with fewer than 200 followers and notify them of their nomination.

And here are the answers to the questions I’ve been given…

Brief facts on Valentines day/Weekly Writing challenge

Valentines day this year will be a little sad, and not because I don’t have the special someone to celebrate with (and I don’t and I also don’t care about that), but because this month is, well its sad. My friends dad passed away last year and Valentine’s Day was his parent’s anniversary (His mom is also a very special person in my life)… This month is also the anniversary of my sister’s passing…

So because I can remember Tich playing his ukulele at our church’s love feast’s (how we generally celebrate Valentine’s day) and sometimes reading us facts about valentine’s day I thought In honor of him I would dedicate this post to him.

Tich you use to scare me so much when I was little, but you did win me over in the end. Thanks for the driving tips and all the joke’s (even if they were at my expense at times) Thank you for that hug and that talk when I lost my sister, I hope your spending some time with her up there. I miss you both, and don’t worry we’re taking good care of your family down here…

1)  Roman Emperor Claudius II, wanting to strengthen his army, would not let young men marry. Valentine, (St. Valentine) defied this and performed marriages in secret. When he was caught Valentine was executed in 270 A.D on February 14.

2) In the middle ages people in France and England believed bird mating season started February 14th. The poet Geoffrey Chauser wrote a poem called “The Parliament of Fowls,” a line being”For this was on Saint Valentine’s Day, when every bird cometh there to choose his mate.” This was possibly the first time romantic love was associated with Valentine’s Day in writing, this was in 1329 .

3) In 1415, Charles, Duke of Orleans, Wrote the first known Valentine to his wife in the form of a poem, after he had been captured during the battle of Agincourt, he was imprisoned in the Tower of London.

4) A tradition in the Middle Ages, was for men and women to draw names from a bowl and see who their valentines would be. They then would wear the name they picked  on their sleeves for one week.

5)  In the 1800s doctors would prescribe patients chocolate to cure the pangs of lost love.

and because its a great quote…

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13

I’m back online, and at home… The memorial was great, it was very casual and very sad, so many people came including the coolest older couple, both of whom are in their mid 90’s… There was even a boy, who was the brother in law of a relative, who payed his respects by taking a knee at my grandpa’s photo… Of course a few things went wrong as they do in family gatherings (lots of step family) its funny to me if your married to someone I’m related to your family (that’s how it is with aunts and uncles after all why can’t my mom’s step sister’s kids be my cousins?) on Monday we put his ashes in the ground, that really hurt, his resting spot is beautiful though… on Tuesday grandpa bought breakfast (my grandma acted for him) I also found a great used and rare bookstore, the guy liked me enough to give me two other books, along with my purchases, and spout a phrase in Italian, I don’t know what it was but it sounded nice, like poetry. I bought a book on the history of codes and ciphers, as well as two poetry books, one with the inscription “Christmas 1919, to Louie from Rufus” who was Louie to Rufus do you think? I don’t know if my Grandpa liked poetry or not but it made me think of him… Its back to real life now, work, and school applications, I think I’ll be an Archaeologist… I still feel so lost. Your forever in my heart Grandpa Jelly Bean… Tomorrow I think I’ll write a story…

So we made it! From the frigid north to the rainy, beautiful, green Vancouver Island… We left the house around 4:30am and our flight left at 7:00… The plane was fun, I love plane rides, although once I noticed that the seat cushions on the plane were also flotation devices I may or may not have gone into some pretty in depth scenarios about the plane crashing, which resulted in freaking out the person behind us… so um this is a formal apology I can get a little carried away, I’m also sorry for telling my mom the details of my imaginings about getting cut up by the propeller blade that was probably more than a little inappropriate…

We got in at about 9:30am my Grandma and Uncle picked us up… My Grandma is a very strong person I haven’t seen her cry yet, its like she’s taking care of everybody in the house, who all think they’re taking care of her… It still hasn’t hit me yet even being here I keep expecting him to come back from golfing, or venture out of his office for a drink of water… I haven’t cried yet, Its different then when I lost my sister…. To continue on after getting picked up from the airport we went for breakfast at Denny’s I had the most delicious steak salad in the world, and then we went to the mall where I bought my dress for the memorial, (they’ve actually decided to do a celebration of life). We also tried to find something for my grandma which proved to be an adventure of which returned with empty hands… I ended up falling asleep around 4 in the afternoon until 9 the next day…

At the moment the household consists of me and my Aunt Charlene, who I just found out used to be a body builder and oh my goodness she was buff! She works as a a personal trainer now and is in great shape, just more toned then buff… she’s also the mother of 4 (or is it 5?) boys… she uses baking to cope, you can only imagine my surprise when I came up stairs this morning and the kitchen was literally covered in cookies (I thought My Grandma was exaggerating when she had mentioned it)…

so at the moment I’m doing this and drinking tea (nectar of the gods), my mom and grandma are running errands, and for one of probably very few moments this weekend the house is quiet… Later I’m planning on a walk (my grandma has what is kind of a small farm, although the only animals are a very grouchy horse, 2 dogs one of which is deaf, and the other a very excitable German Shepard puppy, as well as 2 cats one of which is a rescue that is so inbred it drools and can’t meow, it also has a really nasty cyst that just popped on its back, it is kinda cute though… In a few moments I’ll be baking squares and contemplating life and death as we all do when someone special to us dies… I have a feeling though that we’re in for an interesting day…
